Conservative activist Charlie Kirk posted a haunting final message just moments before being shot at a university event in Utah.
Former President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on his Truth Social platform.
His statement read: “The great and truly legendary Charlie Kirk has passed. No one understood or connected with the youth of America better than Charlie.
“He was loved and respected by all, especially me. Now, he is gone.
“Melania and I send our deepest condolences to his beautiful wife Erika and his family. Charlie, we love you!”
The tragic incident took place on Wednesday, September 10, as Kirk spoke to a large gathering of students, with thousands in attendance.
Kirk, who led Turning Point USA as its executive director, was attacked during a campus event at Utah Valley University (UVU) in the United States.
Video footage shared on X, formerly Twitter, captures Kirk speaking when a loud bang is heard, and he is struck in the neck.
The clip shows the conservative figure closing his eyes and collapsing backward in his chair, blood visible from the injury.
Minutes before this devastating event, Kirk posted a haunting message.
He referenced the recent stabbing death of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally attacked on a train in North Carolina late last month.
Zarutska had recently arrived in the U.S., seeking safety and a fresh start after fleeing conflict in her home country.
Decarlos Brown Jr., age 34, has been charged with first-degree murder for stabbing her three times.
Kirk paid tribute to Zarutska shortly before his own tragic death.
On X, he wrote: “If we want change, it’s absolutely necessary to politicize the senseless murder of Iryna Zarutska, because politics allowed a violent criminal with 14 prior offenses to roam free and kill her.”
After Kirk’s shooting, the Justice Department launched an investigation. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche called it a “senseless act of violence.”
Responding to Kirk’s final post, a follower on X commented: “If this was your last message, rest assured it will be remembered deeply—for her and for you.”
