The mother of TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, has been missing since the weekend, prompting growing concern and national attention.

Former President Donald Trump addressed the situation publicly, describing the circumstances as “horrible” and expressing sympathy for Guthrie and her family during the ongoing search.
Nancy Guthrie was officially reported missing on February 1. Authorities say she was last seen at her residence in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood late on January 31, sometime between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m.
What initially appeared to be a standard missing persons investigation quickly escalated. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that investigators believe the case involves foul play after blood was found inside the home.
“At this stage, we believe she was removed from the house against her will, likely during overnight hours,” the sheriff told reporters during a press briefing on Tuesday.

He added that Nancy had gone to bed Saturday evening, and by Sunday morning, she was nowhere to be found. Law enforcement is confident she did not leave the house voluntarily.
Officials also noted that Nancy had restricted mobility, making it highly unlikely she left on her own or wandered away.
Trump was questioned about the case during a press appearance on Tuesday, February 3. In response, he offered words of concern and said he intended to reach out personally to Savannah Guthrie.
“I think it’s a terrible situation,” Trump told members of the press. “I plan to call her later. It’s very disturbing. I’ve always had a good relationship with Savannah. This is highly unusual, and we’re going to get answers.”
He also stated that federal resources would be made available to Arizona authorities to assist in the investigation, with the goal of locating Nancy as quickly and safely as possible.
Sheriff Nanos has appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with information related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance to contact law enforcement immediately. He emphasized that due to her age and existing medical conditions, time is a critical factor in the search.
