SACRAMENTO, CA — Federal authorities have arrested a 64-year-old man in connection with a drive-by shooting targeting ABC 10, a local news station in Sacramento. The incident — and what agents later found in the suspect’s car — has triggered nationwide concern.
Suspect in Custody — Again
Anibal Hernandez-Santana was initially detained by local police on Sept. 19 after allegedly opening fire on the ABC station’s building. He was released after posting $200,000 bail, but was quickly taken back into custody by the FBI on federal charges.
Handwritten Note Raises Alarm
According to a statement from the Department of Justice, agents recovered a handwritten letter from Hernandez-Santana’s vehicle. The note mentioned several former Trump administration figures by name — including Attorney General Pam Bondi, former FBI Director Kash Patel, and former Deputy Director Dan Bongino.
The message reportedly said:
“For hiding Epstein & ignoring red flags. Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. They’re next. — C.K. from above.”
Online Trail of Political Extremism
Investigators also examined the suspect’s online activity, which revealed repeated anti-Trump sentiment. In a post just days before the shooting, Hernandez-Santana wrote:
“Where is a good heart attack when we need it the most? Join me in wishing for the end of our so-called ‘leader.’”
Other posts suggested he was ready to “go to war” with the former administration. His legal team argues he is being singled out for his political beliefs.
Federal Officials Respond
Kash Patel confirmed via social media that Hernandez-Santana remains in federal custody and emphasized that politically motivated violence “will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”
Tensions in Sacramento Still High
The attack occurred less than 24 hours after demonstrations outside ABC 10, sparked by the network’s decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel. The host recently faced backlash after falsely linking Charlie Kirk’s death to Trump supporters.
A Widow Speaks Out
Erika Kirk, wife of the late Charlie Kirk, shared personal memories at a packed memorial service, recalling a quiet moment when she found a single gray hair on her husband — one he never knew he had.
“It all happened so fast,” she said through tears. “I believe Jesus came for him instantly.”
