After his sister tragically passed away during childbirth, Dr. Thomas Spellman stepped up and raised her newborn triplets as his own. But five years later, his world was turned upside down when the children’s biological father suddenly resurfaced and demanded custody.
“Take a deep breath,” Thomas gently told his sister Leah as she was wheeled into the operating room. He walked beside her, trying to keep her calm. Her forehead glistened with sweat as she struggled to steady her breathing. Just before they entered, she whispered:
“Thomas, you’re the best big brother I could ever ask for.”
Leah had gone into labor prematurely, at just 36 weeks, and doctors had advised an emergency C-section. Though the first baby was delivered safely, Leah’s health quickly began to decline. Her pulse dropped, and the medical team rushed to stabilize her.
“Stay with me, Leah! Don’t drift away!” Thomas cried, gripping her hand tightly. “Look at me, please!”
Dr. Nichols gently took his arm and said, “Dr. Spellman, I’m sorry—you need to wait outside now.” The operating room doors closed firmly behind her, leaving Thomas devastated.

Overwhelmed with emotion, he collapsed into a chair in the hallway, tears streaming down his face.
