Donald Trump has faced criticism for allegedly misrepresenting a significant golf claim after a video of the former U.S. President on the course began circulating.

Trump posted a clip on his social media platform, Truth Social, showing himself impressively sinking a putt, then letting his club drop and walking away to applause from onlookers.

The 79-year-old captioned the video with “36 Club Championships!” — a claim that an expert in the sport has disputed.

Rick Reilly, quoting @patriottakes on X in reference to the footage, added:

“Number of ‘championships’ he claimed last time: 24

Number he’s now suddenly claiming: 36

Number his inflated ego conveniently jumped over: 11

Number of actual ‘championships’ he’s earned: 0.”

Reilly has long been critical of Trump’s golfing habits and behavior both on and off the course.

In 2019, he published Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump, which The Sunday Times described as “a jaw-dropping account of the president’s disregard for the rules of golf.”

Speaking to The Guardian that same year, Reilly — who has known Trump for three decades — said, “Donald Trump is the biggest cheat I’ve ever met, and he doesn’t care who’s aware of it.

I often say golf is like bicycle shorts — it shows more than you’d like. And in Trump’s case, the sport exposes his inability to accept losing. He must win, and he’ll go to any length to cheat.”
