If you thought Donald Trump’s one-word tweets couldn’t get any stranger — think again. Over the weekend, Trump took to social media and posted a cryptic single word: “Bela.” No explanation. No context. Just… Bela.
Naturally, the internet lit up.
Enter California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has recently embraced a bold and aggressive online persona — complete with Trump-style all-caps rants, memes, and satirical jabs. Over the past few months, Newsom has gone full-throttle with viral trolling, and his latest reaction to Trump’s “Bela” post might be his most outrageous yet.

Over the weekend, Newsom’s social feeds exploded with viral content. One standout post featured a surreal, AI-generated image of Hulk Hogan, Kid Rock, and Tucker Carlson solemnly praying over Newsom — clearly mocking Trump-world imagery and online fandom.

He also called out Trump for mimicking his now-signature finger-pointing pose, complete with side-by-side photo comparisons.
And if that wasn’t enough, Newsom’s team rolled out a brutal Photoshop on Monday — turning Trump’s running mate JD Vance into Olympic breakdancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn, launching him into meme infamy overnight.
Then came Trump’s baffling “Bela” post. And Newsom pounced.
Without missing a beat, the governor kicked off his response with:
“WE BROKE DONALD TRUMP.”
But it didn’t stop there. In a fully satirical post written in Trump-esque style — complete with capitalized rambling, grammar jabs, and tiny-hands references — Newsom mocked the former president with this parody tweet:

“DONALD (TINY HANDS), HAS WRITTEN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY THIS MORNING — UNFORTUNATELY (LOW IQ) HE SPELLED IT WRONG — ‘BETA.’ SOON YOU WILL BE A ‘FIRED’ BETA BECAUSE OF MY PERFECT, ‘BEAUTIFUL MAPS.’ THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! — GCN”
The post quickly went viral and was later shared from Newsom’s main account, doubling down on the trolling.
Meanwhile, many social media users drew parallels between “Bela” and Trump’s infamous 2017 “covfefe” tweet, which was never explained and became an internet punchline for years. That tweet read:
“Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”
Trump later posted, “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’??? Enjoy!” — a moment that defined much of his unpredictable online style.
Now, with “Bela” trending, the internet is once again flooded with memes, conspiracy theories, and wild guesses (was he trying to say “beta”? “Bella”? Or did he just sit on his phone again?).
What Do You Think?
Is Gavin Newsom’s social media strategy a brilliant use of satire — or just over-the-top political theater? Is it silly, effective, or borderline childish?
