Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Her Parenting Style, Admitting She Sometimes Spanks Her Children for Misbehavior

Kelly Clarkson, the renowned singer and talk show host, has candidly shared her approach to disciplining her children, revealing that she is “not above” giving her kids the occasional spanking when they misbehave. Despite the increasing social stigma surrounding physical discipline, Clarkson explained that she believes in setting clear boundaries for her children and isn’t afraid to use mild corporal punishment as part of her parenting toolkit.

In a 2018 radio interview, Clarkson clarified that she doesn’t advocate for harsh or violent punishment but rather a light spanking as a corrective measure. She also shared that her disciplinary method includes giving her children prior warnings, telling them something along the lines of, “I’m going to spank you if you don’t stop,” which she finds effective in encouraging better behavior.

Clarkson is a mother to two children, River Rose (8) and Remington Alexander (6), whom she shares with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. She often speaks openly about the challenges and complexities of parenting, including moments of “mom guilt” that arise when her busy career occasionally keeps her away from her children. These emotional struggles highlight the balance she tries to maintain between her professional life and her role as a mother.

While Clarkson was transparent about her disciplinary views back in 2018, it remains unclear whether her opinions on spanking have evolved or changed in recent years as social attitudes around parenting continue to shift.
