In March 2025, country superstar Blake Shelton paused his Friends & Heroes tour to fulfill the final wish of 12-year-old Emily Harper, a leukemia patient at the Jimmy Everest Center in Oklahoma. Emily’s dream was to hear Shelton sing her favorite song, “God Gave Me You.” On March 10, Shelton made her wish come true, arriving at her hospital room with his guitar. He performed an intimate acoustic set, including songs like “Austin” and “Honey Bee,” filling the room with both smiles and tears. Emily, holding a bear named after him, radiated joy.
Known for his compassionate actions, Shelton is a strong advocate for causes like cancer research, disaster relief, and music education.
Sadly, Emily passed away ten days later. During a performance in Greensboro, Shelton dedicated “God Gave Me You” to her, saying, “She’s not with us anymore, but I know she’s up there listening.”
Blake Shelton’s visit gave Emily and her family a moment of light, love, and precious comfort in the final days of her life.
